Irrigation
| Irrigation is a system that takes water from the tap to your plants using a simple network of narrow pipes and outlets hidden in the garden. This can be controlled manually or automatically by means of an Irrigation timer. |
| An automatic Irrigation system takes the work out of watering. It waters your plants properly all through the season, even if you are away. If you are looking for a simple system to water your container plants when you are away on holiday or a sophisticated system to water your entire garden, you’ll find that an automatic watering system helps you manage your garden much more easily, allowing you to spend more time doing the things you want, rather than the things you have to. |
Automatic watering is a simple network of pipes that carry the water around the garden, and outlets that deliver it to the plants. Most systems can be installed in a few hours and all can be extended as your garden grows. Why not start with one of our starter kits and then extend it at a later date as you build in more areas of your garden. You can also incorporate your greenhouse, polly tunnel or hedge by just following a few simple steps. |
| The tap connection is vital, it connects the irrigation system to the mains water supply. There are a number of ways that this can be done, the simplest is by a direct connection to your outside tap via a pressure reducer or Nut and Tail Adapter. The best way is via an automated irrigation timer, this connects directly to your garden tap and then the system pluggs into the bottom of the timer, its then automated and makes your life so much easier. |
| There are two different types of hose that are used, one is the 13mm main supply hose, this provides the distribution of the water around your garden, greenhouse or polly tunnell. We then have a smaller bore hose , this provides the pressure to drive drippers, emitters, sprinklers or sprays. |

Irrigation Drippers |
| You can fit any combination of Drippers, Microjets and Mini Sprinklers, depending on the plants and where you want to water. Choose the best drippers for your needs, these vary from a fixed flow i.e. 2 Litres per hour to advustable flow dripprs that offer a 0-40 Litre per Hour flow rate. The length of time your system needs to run for will depend on several factors, eg, the time of year, the weather and the type of plants. |
There is no fixed solution for irrigation, so experiment until you get the best performance from your system. Save water and help your plants by putting drippers and sprinklers close to the roots and in the shade of leaves. This way your plants will take up more water, the soil will remain moist and evaporation will be lower.
